It would be almost impossible to write about the 2017 vintage without talking about the surrounding forest fire of Napa Valley in October that year.

Deep garnet purple in color, the 2017 Harlan Estate emerges from the glass with a vibrant and carefree nose of wild blueberries, black raspberries, crushed blackcurrants and blackberries with lovely floral undertones of candied violets and rosehip. Medium-bodied, this is an incredibly light-footed Harlan, of astonishing intensity and energy, framed by very fine tannins and an audacious freshness, a very long and mineral finish.
